The Duchess of Cambridge is a committed champion of issues related to children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. In March 2018, under The Royal Foundation, The Duchess established a steering group on early childhood development to explore ways to better support children, expectant mothers, and new parents across the U.K.

With a history of art degree, The National Portrait Gallery was a natural choice for The Duchess of Cambridge as one of her first patronages announced in January 2012. One of the first portrait galleries in the world when it opened in 1856 it holds the most extensive collection of portraits in the world.
Passed on to The Duchess of Cambridge by the Duke of Edinburgh in December 2015. This is Catherine's first role with an official link to the military. She is now Honorary Air Commandant of The Air Cadet Organisation.
As a keen sailor the 1851 Trust was a perfect choice for The Duchess of Cambridge to become it's Patron. The 1851 Trust aims to inspire and engage a new generation through sailing and the marine industry, providing young people with the education, skills and training to become innovators of the future, and stewards of the marine environment.
Continuing to draw attention to children's mental health and the importance of early intervention, The Duchess became Patron of The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families in 2016. The centre brings together leaders in neuroscience, mental health, social care and education to work together to improve the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of treatment.
The Duchess of Cambridge became Patron of The Natural History Museum in 2013 reflecting her belief that the outdoors can have a positive impact on a person's physical and mental well-being. A tourist attraction as well as a world-leading science research centre. The museum aims to help people reconnect with the natural world and answer the big questions about how we can protect our planet's future.

September 18, 2023 - The Princess of Wales will visit Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton, one of the Royal Navy's two principle air stations, and one of the busiest military airfields in the UK where she will meet personnel and servicemen and women. The visit follows her recent appointment as Commodore-in-Chief, Fleet Air Arm (FAA).
September 19, 2023 - - The Princess of Wales will visit Streets of Growth, a not-for-profit youth intervention charity in east London which is working to transform the lives of young people at risk of becoming trapped in a cycle of isolation, exploitation, violence, and criminality.
September 27, 2023 - The Princess of Wales will join a family portage session at a local specialist centre in Sittingbourne, Kent to highlight the importance of supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities and their families. Portage is a service for children with special educational needs and disabilities from birth up to pre-school age and works with families to aid the development of their children.
