The Princess of Wales Appointed Colonel Of The Irish Guards

Catherine, The Princess of Wales, has made history today as she takes over Prince William’s role as Colonel of the Irish Guards. The Princess will continue the tradition of passing out shamrocks at the regiment’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. Something we’ve seen her take part in for over ten years. The role of Colonel is Catherine’s first role in the regiment.

In an announcement from Buckingham Palace, Trooping of the Colour will take place on June 17, 2023.

Other appointments include, The Queen Consort being appointed Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, Prince Andrew’s former role, and The Prince of Wales being appointed Colonel of the Welsh Guards.
