In her first solo visit overseas, The Duchess of Cambridge Visited The Netherlands on (October 11, 2016). Catherine had a busy day as she undertook multiple engagements in The Hague and Rotterdam. To start the day Catherine met King Willem-Alexander at Villa Eikenhorst, his private residence he shares with his wife Queen Máxima and their children, Princess Catharine-Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane. Queen Máxima was unable to greet The Duchess as she was holding her own engagements in Argentina. Catherine had lunch with King Willem-Alexander before heading to the Mauritshuis Art Museum in The Hague for the exhibition, ‘At Home in Holland: Vermeer and his Contemporaries from the British Royal Collection’. Kate enjoyed a private tour of the museum and it’s collections before attending an art class with students. The next engagement of the day was at the British Ambassador’s Residence in The Hague, where she participated in a round table discussion about addiction, intervention, family and mental health. Catherine was joined by two charities in which she is Patron of, the Anna Freud Centre and Action on Addiction. Lastly, Catherine visited the city of Rotterdam to see Bouwkeet, the social Makerspace of Bospolder-Tussendijken, a workshop in a new community that offers a variety skills to local teenagers. Catherine concluded her trip with a walk about greeting well wishers.
