MODEL COLLEGE: On the first full day of their royal visit to Pakistan, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Model College for Girls in Islamabad to hear how students are benefiting from the ‘Teach for Pakistan’ program.

‘Teach for Pakistan’ recruits and trains graduates and young professionals for a two-year Fellowship to teach in low-income schools that lack quality teachers. After the Fellowship, graduates will use their experiences to help tackle Pakistan’s most pressing problems in education, fostering action to change policy and curriculum, mobilizing resources, turning around schools, and spurring social innovation.

This program is based off a similar program in the UK called ‘Teach First’, which also focuses on improving the quality of teaching in schools which serve families from disadvantaged backgrounds.

MARGALLA HILLS: For their second engagement of the day William and Catherine visited the Margalla Hills, which sit in the foothills of the Himalayas.

There, they joined children from four local schools participating in the World Wildlife Fund Green Schools program, taking part in activities designed to educate young people on environmental protection and wildlife conservation. This included helping the children identify and remove species of plants that are threatening the natural environment, bird watching, and storytelling on local environment issues.

MEETINGS: Following a quick change of clothes, Their Royal Highnesses met with President and First Lady of Pakistan at the Presidential Palace. Afterwards, they met with Prime Minister Imran Khan for lunch.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was a former cricket player and friend of Prince William’s mother Princess Diana who was married to her good friend Jemima Khan, now Jemima Goldsmith. It’s reported that Diana would often take William and Harry, to play at the Goldsmith’s property in Richmond Park in south west London. Diana also supported PM Khan’s efforts to build a cancer center during her visits to the country.

EVENING RECEPTION: Arriving to the iconic Pakistan National Monument via a traditional rickshaw, Prince William stole the show wearing a traditional sherwani. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge ended their jam pakced first day with a reception hosted by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Thomas Drew celebrating the very best of Pakistani music and culture, as well as highlighting the prosperous UK-Pakistan relationship.

The Duke and Duchess met well-known individuals from business, the creative arts, the Pakistan music and film industry, and members of Government.

On October 14, 2019 The Duke and Duchess arrived to Rawalpindi, a city located just outside the capital city of Islamabad. The Duke and Duchess landed at 9:30 p.m. local time at Pakistani Air Force Base Nur Khan. William and Catherine were greeted by Britain’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Thomas Drew.

The Cambridge’s will spend five days in the country starting today and concluding October 18, 2019.

When the tour was announced High Commissioner for Pakistan, Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, said: “The Government and the people of Pakistan warmly welcome the announcement of the royal visit by Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Pakistan this year. The people of Pakistan still cherish and fondly recall the visits of Her Majesty the Queen to Pakistan in 1961 and 1997. The upcoming royal visit is a reflection of the importance the United Kingdom attaches to its relations with Pakistan. The two countries enjoy historical links which both sides wish to strengthen further.”

Although the first full day of the tour will start tomorrow, the itinerary has been embargoed for security reasons. We do know The Duke and Duchess will focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today with it’s rich culture, diverse communities and beautiful landscapes.

Their Royal Highnesses will meet a wide variety of people, including children and young people, leaders from government, business and the charity sector, inspiring conservationists, and well-known cultural figures and sporting stars.

October 09 | Visiting The Angela Marmont Centre For UK Biodiversity

On October 09, 2019 The Duchess of Cambridge made an unannounced visit to The Angela Marmont Centre For UK Biodiversity to hear how it is championing and helping to protect UK wildlife.

The AMC helps public visitors identify their finds, provides vital training in wildlife identification, and leads research and citizen science projects that are helping to transform our understanding of over 80,000 species of wildlife known to exist in the UK today.

The AMC brings together a host of individuals and organisations all dedicated to building understanding of the UK’s wildlife, so that it can be better protected for future generations. This ranges from applying ground-breaking scientific techniques, including analysis of environmental DNA through to detecting and identify the minuscule insects and microorganisms that play an important role in healthy environments.

The Duchess who has been Patron of The Natural History Museum since 2013 joined Museum Director Sir Michael Dixon, Head of the Angela Marmont Centre Dr John Tweddle, and Head of Learning and Audiences Beth Stone in viewing plant and insect specimens and viewing DNA sequencing live in action.

On October 02, 2019 The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited The Aga Khan Centre.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined His Highness The Aga Khan for the special event ahead of their official visit to Pakistan later this month.

Organised in co-operation with the High Commission of Pakistan, the event showcased modern Pakistani culture, and saw The Duke and Duchess meet a range of people from Pakistan, including community leaders, those involved in British and Pakistani business, and key figures within the Diaspora community, including musicians, chefs and artists.

The Aga Khan Development Network has been working in Pakistan for over a century to improve the quality of life, promote pluralism, and enhance civil society.

Today, September 19, 2019 The Duchess of Cambridge visited Evelina London’s Sunshine House for Children and Young People’s Health and Development Centre in South London.

The embargoed visit was to further her research and engagement with the Early Years sector. During her visit The Duchess met with the Southwark Family Nurse Partnership team who support first time parents, aged 24 and under and their children. Parents are partnered with a trained family nurse who visits them regularly from early pregnancy until the child is two.

The Duchess met with parents who have been supported by Evelina London’s Family Nurse Partnetship team and heard their stories of success.

September 05 – Princess Charlotte Attends First Day Of School

Today, September 05, 2019 Princess Charlotte attended her first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were greeted by the head of Thomas’ lower school, Helen Haslem as they dropped off their children.

The Duchess seemed particularly excited to accompany her children this year, as when Prince George started school two years ago she missed the big moment as she was sick with Hyperemesis Gravidarum while pregnant with Prince Louis.

On July 14, 2019 The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Gentlemen’s Singles Final.

The Duke and Duchess met ballboys and ballgirls before heading to the Royal Box to watch Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the finals. Catherine’s mother Carole, sister Pippa, brother James and his girlfriend Alizee Thevenet were also in attendance.

It was a whirlwind of the match-up lasting five hours with Novak Djokovic winning his fifth Wimbledon title.

For the first time as Patron, The Duchess presented the Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles Final trophies alongside The Duke of Kent who is President of The All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Yesterday, July 13, 2019 The Duchess of Cambridge attended the Wimbledon Ladies’ Singles Final at The Championships.

The Duchess, who has been Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016 was accompanied by The Duchess of Sussex and her sister Pippa Matthews.

Arriving ahead of the finals Catherine met junior players Kamilla Bartone, Oksana Selekhmeteva, Polina Kudermetova, and Giulia Morlet. She also met volunteers and former champions.

The Ladies’ Singles Final match was a quick one as Simona Halep beat Serena Williams in 55 minutes to win her first Wimbledon title. Catherine met Halep briefly after the match offering congratulations and telling her to ‘enjoy the celebrations’.

On July 10, 2019 The Duchess of Cambridge with her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis and The Duchess of Sussex and Baby Archie made a appearance at King Power Royal Charity Polo Day at Billingbear Polo Club in Wokingham, Surrey,

The Duchesses were on the sidelines to cheer on Prince William and Prince Harry who were competing for the Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Polo Trophy. Catherine was extra busy on the sidelines running after Prince Louis and looking after Prince George and Charlotte.

The Power Royal Charity Polo Day was held in honour of late Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha who died in a helicopter crash last October and raised over £1 million for several of the Prince’s patronages.

Today, July 02, 2019 The Duchess of Cambridge attended Day 2 of the Wimbledon Championships.

The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, also known as the All England Club, is based at Church Road, Wimbledon, London, England, it is a private members’ club. Best known as the venue for the Wimbledon Championships, it’s the only Grand Slam tennis event still held on grass.

Catherine has been Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since December 2016. Taking over the role from The Queen.

During her visit The Duchess visited the Aorangi Park to see the practice courts and players’ warm-up area. There she met Johanna Konta and Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray. She also met a number of finalists and winners nominated for the annual LTA Tennis Awards which recognize people who volunteer at grassroots level to grow and open up the sport.

Catherine watched Britain’s Harriet Dart play against U.S. player Christina McHale in Wimbledon’s outer courts. And later watched ngelique Kerber vs Tatijana Maria in the Royal Box.

Today, June 25, 2019 The Duchess of Cambridge attended a photography workshop with her patronage Action For Children.

Shortly after being named the new Patron of The Royal Photographic Society The Duchess of Cambridge visited the Warren Park Children’s Centre in Kingston-upon-Thames, south-west London to take part in a photography workshop for children – a collaboration between the Royal Photographic Society, The Duchess’s newest patronage and Action for Children, another of The Duchess’s charities, which celebrates its 150 year anniversary this year.

Catherine spent more than an hour with 11 young people from across the UK who were participating in workshops where they learned about the different elements of photography, workshops also touched on how photography provides a way for young people to express themselves and release their thoughts and feelings.

The Royal Photographic Society is one of the world’s oldest photographic societies, founded in 1853 with the objective of promoting the art and science of photography. The Queen held the role for 67 years.

The Duchess of Cambridge was made an Honorary Member of the Royal Photographic Society in 2017.

Today, June 18, 2019 The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended Day One of Royal Ascot.

Royal Ascot takes place for five days in the month of June. It’s one of Britain’s most well-known racecourses, and welcomes around 300,000 visitors over the five days including The Queen and other members of The Royal Family.

Each day begins with the Royal Procession, when The Queen and accompanying Members of the Royal Family arrive along the track in horse-drawn carriages. They then spend the day watching the races from the Royal Enclosure.

This year, the British Royal Family was joined by King Willem-Alexander & Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.
